Your comparisons were genius! Been there as a parent and preschool music teacher. I loved the reference of the meltdown and the plot collapsing. That seems to be my hurdle at times. I want to have that same meltdown, too, but I’m too big to get carried out of my writing nook. Lol.

Thank you! 😂 I had way too much fun writing it.

Carry your manuscript out of the store. Love this so much!

Needed to see this today! Thanks!

I identify with so much of this! Clearly I need a juice box nearby.

Me too 😂

My manuscript is absolutely in that toddler stage. 😭 But, this analogy is a great reminder that it’s just a phase.

Absolutely - you're doing great. Just keep at it! (Also, nap when the manuscript naps. Eat when the manuscript eats...)

I'm not a parent, but this is still so beautifully written and relatable. I love it.

I don't have kids but I think this is very accurate!

What a great parallel. Thanks for sharing! I think toddlers and teens might both fit the bill. My favorite line - arrives on a sunbeam.

😂 I like that one too!

This may be the most accurate thing I’ve read about novel writing! And as the parent of adult-ish humans, I’d also say it’s encouraging, except for the patience part 😜

Adult-ish humans 🤣 Love it

Spot on! Perfectly put! ❤️

This is so absurdly validating. I don’t know why I thought writing a novel would be a smooth process, but I really needed to read this today. Thank you!!

Wow! Blown away. What great insight, and top-shelf writing. Bravo!
